Demon Designs Racing Team supporting Martin House

Demon Designs Racing has partnered with, and will be fundraising for Martin House Hospice . We will have collections boxes at all the events we are attending this year hoping to raise some money for this amazing charity. Please take a look at their website https://www.martinhouse.org.uk/ to see the fantastic work they do. We ask if you would kindly visit their page, make a donation or even pass to one of the Demon Designs Racing team to pop into one of our charity boxes.

Who are Martin House

Martin House provides family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We support families from across West, North and East Yorkshire, both at our hospice and in the community. Our families are at the heart of everything we do and we value each member as an individual with their own needs.

Some children might receive hospice care for a relatively short time, for example if they have a malignant disease such as cancer where palliative care is an option. The majority have longer term, progressive disorders such as Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, or Batten's Disease. These children might use the hospice over a much longer period of time.

We accept referrals for children and young people aged 0-19, including babies diagnosed in the antenatal stages. Even without a referral, both families and professionals can seek advice at any time from experienced professionals who are experts in paediatric palliative care.

The hospice itself is a place where children, young people and their families can come to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. It is a place of love and understanding, a peaceful place but one that can also have a lively, friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter, where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life.

We also have a growing community team who support families in hospital and in their own homes, and are often involved in advanced care planning. They ensure that families are able to spend quality time together and make informed, supported decisions about their child’s care.

All of our families are offered the best possible support in bereavement, whether through one to one sessions or as part of our support groups. We have groups for siblings, parents and grandparents and even offer a service to families of children who have died from a life-limiting illness but did not use the hospice.
